Introduction of a new type of wooden/aluminium windows with increased thermal insulation in production
On 16.12.2021 SIA "KDW Werke Baltics" and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia have signed an agreement on project No. NP-2021/7 "Introduction of new type of wood/aluminium windows with increased thermal insulation into production", and has already started project implementation activities.
The aim of the project is to increase the productivity and competitiveness of SIA KDW Werke Baltics by launching a new product - wood/aluminium windows for passive houses, using resource-saving production technologies.
The project will be implemented in the areas of green innovation and during its implementation new production equipment will be purchased, which will ensure the use of surplus production processes, reducing the amount of wood waste by 11%.
As a result of the project, the purchase of maximum automated, more energy-efficient (compared to the technologies in the company) will be made, which will ensure higher productivity (both in terms of labour involvement and production time), consume less electricity per 1 window unit, thus making a significant contribution to the modernisation of the company's production technologies and increase of competitiveness at international level.
The project will involve a partner from the Kingdom of Norway – Verda Bygg AS, which will provide knowledge transfer in reference to thermal modelling, thermal insulation and air/water leakage testing, as well as life cycle calculations of the new product - a wood/aluminium window.
Main project activities:
1. Purchase of equipment and software.
2. Knowledge transfer activities with a project partner of the donor country (Norway).
3. Measure related to the implementation of the new service - employee involvement in the project.
4. Information and communication activities.
Planned results of the project:
1. 3 machines purchased, 1 software - production software.
2. 2 contracts of employment for the staff who will implement the project.
3. 1 partnership agreement.
4. 10 information and communication measures.
Total project cost: EUR 1 205 007.52 of which eligible costs EUR 1 031 988.52. The planned support from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism is EUR 567 593.68 or 55% of the total eligible costs of the project.
The project is planned to be implemented till September 2022.
